Wrap

Wrap refers to the overall shape and tension of a fully wound reel of audiotape. This term can refer to film elements as well, but usually the designations “wind” or “pack” are used instead.

A poor wrap may be uneven, too loose, or too tight. If a reel is placed in long-term storage with a poor wrap, there will be risk of damage to its edges. A good wrap ensures that the tape or film is wound evenly and securely on its reel.
