Vitasound

From Wikipedia, Chace Audio

Vitasound was an experimental theatrical sound presentation system premiered by Warner Bros. in the 1940 film Santa Fe Trail. Vitasound used a second track between the regular sound track and the film's sprocket holes that controlled additional speakers in the theater to create louder sounds for battlefield scenes and the like.
