Track

From Chace Audio

Track has become a very ambiguous term in the audio/video world and is now used to refer to anything from a song on an album to a 7.1 composite mix. However, in its narrowest definition, a track is the section where audio is recorded or played back on any number of mediums, including magnetic film, DTRS cassettes, a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), 2” 24-track audiotape, digital Betacam cassette, etc. The terms “track” and “channel” are often used interchangeably, even though each has its own distinct meaning.
