Sweetener

From Chace Audio

A sweetener can be a sound effect, ambience, or musical cue used to augment production or pre-mixed audio when putting together the elements for a final mix. For example, when upmixing a mono soundtrack to 5.1 surround sound, additional ambiences may be added, as well as effects such as birds chirping or planes flying by, to “sweeten” the mix for the surround environment.
