Squawk Box

From Chace Audio

A squawk box is a device equipped with a small speaker and a removable magnetic playback head that is used to quickly determine the defining characteristics of magnetic film audio tracks. It can help an engineer determine the direction of the film, the language recorded, and track type quickly without having to thread up the film on a playback machine.
