OMF File

From Chace Audio

An OMF (Open Media Framework) file is a platform-independent file format intended for transfer of digital media between different software applications.

OMF sequences not only contain a project's audio and video media but an EDL as well. This makes it possible for edits and automation to follow a project from one workstation to another. While the translation between systems is not perfect, maintaining volume and panning automation, edits, and fades can be a huge time-saver when collaborating across multiple platforms.
