Noise

From Chace Audio

Noise is audio information that is not intended as part of audio program material. It is either inherent in the medium upon which the program is recorded or due to its reproduction or deterioration. Examples of noise are: tape hiss, amplifier hiss, crackles and pops from dirt or damage to optical film or vinyl disc, and crackle and bursts from electronic interference. Noise can also be inherent in the environment in which a recording is made. Examples of environmental noise are generators, lighting or electrical equipment, traffic, and wind.
