Limiting

From Chace Audio

Limiting means preventing audio from crossing a predetermined threshold of loudness. For example, if a program is limited at +12dB, even if the signal at the input of the limiter exceeds +12dB, the limiter ouput will not become louder than +12dB, so at no point during program will the audio exceed that threshold of loudness.
