LFE is an acronym for Low Frequency Effect, and it refers to an audio channel that contains only low frequency information (less than 200Hz) in a multi-channel configuration. This channel is also sometimes referred to as the Sub (Subwoofer) or boom channel. The LFE channel is referred to as .1 in a 5.1 or 7.1 configuration, as the audio information contained in that channel is not full frequency. |
