Headroom

From Chace Audio

Headroom is the difference between the loudest part of an audio event and the point at which audio will clip or distort. For example, if you are using the dBfs scale to measure your digital audio levels, 0dBfs represents the maximum level that can be achieved. If your soundtrack reaches -3dBfs at its loudest point, the headroom is 3dB.
