FTP

The FTP (file transfer protocol) process is used to transfer data from one computer to another (using any platform) through a network, e.g., over the Internet. There are many existing FTP client and server programs allowing the exchange of files using this process.

If a file transfer is interrupted during the upload, however, the receiver has no way to know if the received file is complete because date/time stamp attributes are not included in the transfer. Other file transfer protocols like SFTP allow such attributes to be included.
