Exabyte Tape

Exabyte Tape

From Chace Audio

The term Exabyte is commonly used to refer to an 8mm magnetic tape data storage product called Data8 that was developed by Exabyte Corporation. The cassettes themselves are physically identical to DTRS and 8mm video cassettes. Exabyte drives were typically connected to a computer through a SCSI interface and were used with various third party applications to archive and retrieve digital data. Popular in the mid to late 1990s, Exabyte tapes were surpassed in storage capacity and speed by the AIT format.
