Edit Decision List

(Redirected From EDL)

From Chace Audio

An EDL, or edit decision list, defines the placement of every clip used on a timeline. They are most often used in video editing and are extremely useful when working with low-res video because they can be used to quickly link the high-res clips when the final video element is being created.

When an EDL is referenced in audio post production, it usually refers to the edits that have been made to audio in a DAW (digital audio workstation).

EDLs can be useful when moving projects from workstation to workstation or even between studios so that the work done can be referenced by other editors or audio engineers.
