Dropout

From Chace Audio

A dropout is a momentary and instantaneous loss of program level. The term can refer either to a partial but noticeable loss of level or to a complete loss of level in program.

This nice man in a tuxedo was trying very hard to explain of the properties of sound when quite suddenly his speech was rudely interrupted by a dropout - and on the word "sound," too!
