Digital Audio

From Chace Audio

Digital audio is the representation of sound in digital form. It uses digital signals consisting of bits for sound reproduction, storage, and transmission. An analog signal is converted to a digital signal at a given sampling rate and bit resolution; generally speaking, the higher the sampling rate and bit resolution, the better the quality.

Digital audio has become the de facto standard in the recording, manipulation, mass-production, and distribution of sound due to its relatively low cost and ease of use.
