Center Track Time Code

From Chace Audio

Center track time code refers to the longitudinal time code channel positioned between the audio tracks on 1/4” two-track magnetic tape. 1/4” two-track magnetic tape was originally developed as a mastering format for music recordings, and as such did not have the need to incorporate time code. Film post production saw the potential of using this format to record sound for picture, and this led to the addition of a longitudinal time code channel between the two audio tracks on the tape.
