Betamax

From Wikipedia, Chace Audio

Betamax was Sony's consumer 1/2” videocassette tape recording format introduced in 1975. Betamax introduced high fidelity audio to videotape with an 80dB dynamic range and less than .005% wow and flutter.

Betamax “fought” JVC's similar VHS videocassette in a bitter format war in the 1980s, but VHS emerged victorious.
