1"C Videotape

From Chace Audio

1"C videotape is an analog video format used for television broadcast from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s. Consisting of a 1" wide magnetic tape stored on a single reel, 1"C videotape provides two discreet audio channels and a time code track. Audio recorded to 1”C has limited headroom and is generally not suitable for use as an audio master unless no other sources exist. Dolby® A noise reduction was a common tool used when recording audio to 1”C videotape to maintain the highest level of fidelity with the least amount of analog tape hiss. Some 1" videotape machines are capable of recording PCM (digital) audio tracks that are embedded in the video signal.
