From Chace Audio

kbps, when used in terms of data as opposed to say, the call sign for Portland's all-classical radio station, refers to "kilobits per second." A kilobit is a thousand bits. This should not be confused with kBps, in which the capital "B" stands for "bytes," not "bits." If you were an IT guy, this would all make sense, trust us.
