A D/A (digital to analog) converter translates digital audio into an analog signal. Although stand-alone converter units are available, D/A converters are present in any form of digital equipment that also has analog outputs, (i.e. DTRS machines, Pro Tools®, home theater receivers, etc.). Any time an analog signal is output from a digital piece of equipment, it does so via a D/A converter. The quality of a D/A converter is reflected in the quality of the output audio; the higher the quality of the converter, the higher the quality of the audio. |
